Default Photo for a Friend

Hi there -

This is my first post in the DPS forum! I really wasn't sure if I should post this in the share or critique. I would like your critique of this photo, but to be perfectly honest, I really like it!

I was asked by a friend to take a head shot of her for her business cards, website, etc. The only post processing I did in Lightroom was a little clarity, and changed to B&W.

I would like your thoughts on the photograph. I did question the exposure. Do you think it's okay? Too bright? It was a very sunny day outside and we weren't in direct sunlight but had plenty of it for the photo.

Here are the details:

Nikon d90, 50 mm, f/4.5, ISO 200, Manual setting

Thanks for your feedback.

Welcome to DPS. If you like it and your client likes it, then , you're good to go. I, and this is just a matter of taste, would like to see a little more separation between her and the background.

Thanks! She's a friend, not a client so she was happy. LOL. I do this just for fun, and started really playing around with photography a little over a year ago. I do agree with you about the background. We tried a couple of different things and liked the black background best, but I can now see that there needs to be little more separation. I appreciate your comment.

You're welcome. Keep playing around; I think you're doing fine. Looking forward to seeing more of your work here at school.

I think it is a nice image for the stated purpose. Flattering, simple, clean. Good job.

I agree with Mike, its a good headshot... just be careful when using dark wardrobe with a dark background without separation lights.

I think it looks great. Great business head shot - I don't think it's too bright, and the first thing that I noticed was how sharp her eyes are (not too sharp) - I was attracted to that part of the photo right away.

Thanks, everyone. I'm my own worst critic, so when I thought this one was pretty good I thought I better check with someone else. :-) I do appreciate the feedback.
