I took some photos of my friend's little girls this weekend and I liked this picture... but I'm wondering if the sun in the background (which I was doing on purpose) is too distracting?

I need to edit the highlights on her arm because they keep catching my eye - so I'll fix that. But otherwise, is it a good shot or how could it be better?

I like the light behind her. This picture could look better with a little more contrast and sharpness.

The biggest issue, and one you're always going to have to deal with, is balancing the exposure of the subject vs the background when dealing with hard backlighting. In this case the result is the girl being under exposed.

Not a big issue, as you can bring her up in post use layers to maintain the background. As it stands right now however, her skin is grey and her eyes are dead.

Another issue that this technique brings about are contrast issues, and in this case she looks a little washed out - more importantly, the WB looks too cool, which if you're using the sun and a little girl, isn't what I would consider a good match up. Warm it up some and it would, imho be much more appealing.

I like the shot generally.
gotta say, a bit of fill in flash to put catch lights in her eyes and brighten the somewhat greyish hue too her skin. this done in camera save time in post process.
If your like me, you may prefer to get the pic right at the time of taking.
