Default Second Maternity Shoot

I had my second maternity shoot yesterday. Portraits are still a medium that I'm working on trying to improve in and I also like to hear critiques in order to make me better.

This is one of the first shots I took. We started inside and then ended up outside for some variety.

Serene

Exif:

Exposure 0.067 sec (1/15)
Aperture f/8.0
Focal Length 33 mm
ISO Speed 400

My main questions are how are the lighting, composition and the pose?

I think that lighting is good, the composition is OK. The jacket almost blends in with the sofa and everything is equally sharp. I would prefer to add a little blur in the background and foreground. The pose seems to be a bit "staged" to me.

In terms of composition I really like this picture... it seems like maternity shoots often verge on the "uncomfortable" and can go wrong very fast.

I also looked through your portfolio and I really liked some of your other photos, particularly "mocha tint" "eyes" "legs" and the one titled "Trip 199-1"

keep up the good work!

Great shot and processing. my only critique is that you've lost a bit of her belly detail with the shadow on the left.. perhaps moving a pillow to allow light there or a fill. but thats if i'm being picky.

Thank everyone for the critiques so far.

Special thanks to DMW0004 for looking at more of my portfolio on Flickr, I appreciate you taking the time to do so.

Also, thanks utsc2006, for the comment about the shadow on the belly. It's little things like that, that I need to look for when I'm shooting and it often escapes my attention.
