Default moving subject

i'd like to know what i can do for the following aspects of this certain picture:

yellow speed by jadestoner, on Flickr

Camera: Nikon D5000
Lens: Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D
Exposure: 0.002 sec (1/640)
Aperture: f/3.5
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed : 320
Focus: Manual (since the 50mm 1.8D doesn't AF on my D5000)

1. About the colors, are they too bland or just enough? I don't want to over saturate on pictures so a always make adjustments here and there.
2. Does the picture convey movement or is it to "static"?
3. Sharpness of the subject and composure, are they okay or is the photo lacking in sharpness and off on the composition?

THANK YOU! ^_^ by the way, I'm glad to have found this website! Since registering I've learned a whole lot and now getting a significant change in how I take photographs! ^_^

I think you're colour editing is spot on in this photo. The problem is, in my opinion, the frozen nature of time. If you do intend to convey movement, I would suggest either blurring the background or the subject with a longer exposure. Right now, it seems that this boy is just posing on his skateboard.

How about panning?
You already are using manual focus. Just have to use a long shutter.... And a lot of patience to practice...
And I would prefer to see this face instead of this rear...

Actually, I don't think the angle is that terrible. But, I do agree this shot would've looked a lot better with panning to convey the movement. Colors look good IMO, though.

Thank you for the critique! Now that you mentioned that the guy is just like posing on his board makes me want to try panning shots this weekend! ^_^ I hope it doesn't rain though. Hehehehe
