I took this to enter our Department into a contest here in Nova Scotia on the AA Munro Insurance Facebook site. The Department with the most votes wins $5000.00 which as a Volunteer non paid Department we can use the money to buy new gear.
I parked 2 fire trucks on both sides of the table with the high beams on and then lit the fire. It was a lot fun and taught me a lot at the same time. See what you think and I wish I had put a light above them to light the table. Thank you Art I have been trying to copy the information to show you the settings but it won't copy so once I get it copied I will add them. AA Munro Insurance , Mira Road Volunteer Fire Department |

it's a really great idea and you did a good job.
a few things do bother me: 1. you're talking fire, fireman and smoke and yet the picture has very cold colors. this means you WB was off. warm it up it PP to get a more "fire" like feeling. 2. it's a bit underexposed. there are parts that are overexposed but try nailing the overall picture rather than making sure you don't have small parts that are blown out. 3. the fire fighters are not centered and that bothers me because of the fire circle. I think this kind of picture needs to be dead center and have symmetry in order for it to be great. 4. one last thing, the thing that can move this kind of photo from nice to great and even to awesome are the small things like the bottles on the table (beer instead of water), the kind of table and chairs and most of all - the angle you're shooting at. you went to so much trouble composing this picture together and yet you chose the most obvious angle of all. this scene would have been awesome from above or even from their point of view, just to make something new, something different. don't get me wrong, it's still can be a great picture with an interesting concept. but it just had more potential than it shows. good luck

MrJones hit the nail on the head. Going off of his first point, whenever I think of firefighters, I think of intensity and passion. I agree that a warmer tone gives it the feeling of fire. I also do want to see the poker table lit up a bit more so that the audience can see exactly what they are playing without having to squint or look hard. His 3rd and 4th points are also on point, and there's nothing more than I can add. Otherwise, this is a great idea and I hope you do blow the competition out of the water. Nice job!
