I think I'm going to call this style "Segmented".. it's an evolution (devolution?) from my Portrait Montage series.
What I would like is for you, the viewer to look at the image, then read my specific questions below (though you're welcome to general C&C if you wish). Thanks! ![]() HERE is a bigger version if you want to check it out. My goal was to create a portrait (or a series of them) where it highlights elements of a person that speak to their personality (kind of building off my blog about the issue). I don't envision every one of these to be exactly like this in terms of the same three shots, but I do foresee focusing in on details, so it'll be similar to this (ie several shots joined to make up one). So, my question is this basically: How did it feel to you in terms of flow? Does it feel ok, or weird (ie midget-y feeling?). Does your mind try to link the three together and therefore make you think of a Little Person/Midget? I'm happy with composition, DoF, post-processing as it came out as I envisioned it, but comments on those issues are of course welcome though I really want to know how it feels to you? So, have at it, here's your chance and some vengeance of my comments all! ![]() EDIT: Sh!t, forgot my EXIF!: f3.5, 1/1250, iso250, Sorry!

Definitely has a "Little Person" look to it. Maybe it's just me, but it almost seems like you're making fun at them.
Other than that...I like the funky post processing, kind of has a Dave Hill look to it. |

It does feel a little weird... but the rock solid face section keeps my attention most of the time... The torso/crotch and shoes shots are different. I am sure a series of these would make the concept really fascinating. And I bet a whole 'nother level of fascination when its a hottie in a short skirt with strappy shoes...

Has this little person feel for me too. I think I wouldn't crop the single photos that much. Also it seems you shot all those photos directly from the front. Maybe varying the angles to either side a bit would add some dimension to it. Just my 2 cents.

I really don't know what to think myself. "Little Person" wasn't really my first thought until I read your post. It has a disconjointed feel to it, that I haven't really decided whether I like or not. You definitely get props for the weirdness factor though, which I like.
I am with Bruce on the face. It does seems to draw the attention away from the mind f***. I also second Bruce's short skirted hottie assertion as well.

I can't help but think of Tim Conway's "Dorf." But in a really cool way.
It is odd but I think the way you broke it up and have such a presence of the face, it really all comes together. It is a very interesting idea and executed well. I’d say make a few more.

That's *exactly* what I thought. But not in a cool way. It really looks like a spoof. There might be some merit in the idea of shooting a collage of close-ups, but I don't think you want to arrange them in a way that begs the minds-eye to re-assemble the images into a midget. You're one white-balance mistake away from an oompa-loompa..
