Default Composition

Composition of augmented Photo (Combination of Photo and Art, and perhaps 3D in future that you may need a passive spec)

Cloud at 1/3 (cloud is less intended)
Color Contrast: Red (Evil) vs Angel (Blue)
Light Contrast: Dark(Evil) vs Angel (Blue); dark surrounding vs bright cloud
Art Theory: Expressionism, representationism
Rule of third: Cloud at 1/3 horizontal, Eyes at 1/3 2/3 vertically
Behaviour contrast: Happy Evil is tissing the confused angel
Color harmony: balance between red blue; analogy color foreground vs backgroundy
Other contrast composition: Blur vs sharp, Big Evil vs Small Angel, eye line towards angel, young vs old
35mm, f5.0, Shutter 1/15, no flash, Mixed Photo with artpaint
yellow pop up frm dark -color harmony
eye read from left to to brighter and stop at pop up yellow guided by the eye line from the evil

completely swipe off the unwanted background - limitation of widest aperture.and distance gap
3 points of interest - The Evil, Angel then the magic at dead center. How long does this pic hold your attention? Where are you looking at (beginning, to the end,, which element the longest?)

1) comment about compision pls. ty
2) What do you think about Photo in the near future. For me, camera should have twin lens that capture 2 pictures at the same time, convert the 2 2D images into 1 3D imageusing some kind of spec. Then modify them with paint and brush.. Phototaking will be more difficult in future. They are able to do this 20 years ago in computer graphics and movies, and why they still don't want to do so for photos?

3) What do you think about the evil and her pet?Does the angel looking at the fire or the evil's pet?(expressionism art theory ->you may think differentialy, or you may totally can't see anything.... everything created in your mind...)

Note: right one is my baby -clement

I'm sorry, I don't know what to say. I think this one would've looked better with a brush and paint.

Ok, so here I am. I promised you from another thread that I'd provide some feedback on your work/photography so I'll do it here as it's not appropriate to hijack another thread to give feedback to another member from somebody else's thread.

As a complete beginner, you seem to have done heaps of reading. Heaps. It is obvious that you are very excited and serious about your new found love and you are nice enough to share and give your own feedback to others who need it. That's wonderful and keep doing it as critiquing someone else's work helps us tremendously with learning, ourselves.

However, having read some of your critiques, it is also obvious that you have way too much information in your head from everything that you have read. Your enthusiasm is making you go way too fast with learning. Seriously, you need to back off from reading at the moment and pick up your camera and put the BASIC things you have learned to practice as you need it.

This image that you wanted to critique on is prime example of why I say you have way too much in your head at the moment. All the books, techniques, advice, and your own creative vision that you have in your head are complicating the images that you are putting out. Look at this image. Take away all the explanation that you have posted as far as what it is. Seriously, a viewer needs to see a CLEAR image in your photographs in order to understand what you are trying to communicate. If you need an essay to explain what the picture is, then the image has failed to convey your vision and/or your art.

In simplistic terms, this image is a mess. Viewers can understand that you are trying to merge art and photography together, but it is also very clear that you need to give simplicity and clarity to your vision with the image you are trying to display. What this picture looks like is that you have dabbed a bunch of colours over a photograph. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I've always believed that photography is an art form. However, photography, too, is a very technical craft if one wants to master it. BEFORE YOU CAN APPLY YOUR ARTISTIC STYLE AND VISION TO YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY, YOU MUST LEARN THE VERY BASICS OF THE TOOLS. One can't just snap a photo with the camera, blend/blur colours on the image and then call it art. You must learn the relationships between the ISO, exposure, shutter speed and where to focus on your subject/s to give focal point to your image. Your vision is only as good as how well you expose and compose your images. You must train your eyes to see what is technically correct, as well as aesthecially pleasing, with photographs. You're not quite there yet, my friend, and as a matter of fact, I''m not either. We have a long way to go.

Go out there and take photos. Learn from your experiences and not through quotes from books. Come back and post us some photos and show us what you have learned, or need help with.

Don't jump into the complexities of your vision and images until you have learned to express the beauty of simplicity in your photographs.

Default Thanks.. ;D

Please comment this image (click here)

"Composition" is just a feel test of some art theories..

I agree with you for the first point about pure photographing.

2nd Point: Experiencing phototaking

Grace, for the first 2 months, i take 20,000 pictures everyday, and all rubbish..I just kept pressing the shutter button,, and none of them I like.. And i gain very bad experience by taking my D5100 out there.. Try on errors. Now, i wish to change the try on error approach to learning the Photographer's eyes and artist's eye. The best way is to criticize for feedback. ;D

haha, well take out my D5100 for the weekly assignments.. As you know the more frequent you press the shutter button, the faster it spoil.. ahhaa...So I think of all these conceptual idea first, then design, then only take photo ..

Again, thanks for your advice
