Default Distracting?

This is a recent photo of my son that I absolutely love, but am wondering if the lighter area in the upper left corner is competing for attention. I hate to crop in even closer. Also, do the eyes seem sharp enough? Thanks in advance for your advice.

It personally doesn't bother me. I am not one to nitpick things like that, but others may. For me, it leads me in to the photo, if that makes sense? It's like reading a book. Left to right. Top to bottom, which makes it comfortable.

The tone looks too cold for my tastes. You may want to try and warm it up just a bit and see how you like it.

As for the sharpness. It looks good to me as well. It may be a little soft on his right eye (camera left), but it's not very distracting.

It's a pretty nice photo you have there.

Thanks for your thoughts. I did also notice the coloring and thought it might need some warming up. I will definitely play around with it!

The light isnt too much of an issue. Im getting into the strobist mentality, but I wont let it spill over here just yet. The light issue could easily have been sorted out with some subtle off camera flash however.

My only issue otherwise is that where it is light on the right ear (photo left) it does not look sharp and in focus to me, probably secondary to your f4.5 setting but maybe you have done something to this in PP?.. perhaps its just an effect of the light though?...

I did not do any PP that would affect the softness of the right ear. I too am assuming it has to do with the aperture. I do see what you are talking about though.

Thanks again for the advice.
