Default Post Processing Critique

Hey guys,
Wondering your opinion on the post processing done to this photo.
I know it's a little over the top. Not entirely necessary as the photo looked good on its own. But I wanted to know what YOU GUYS think. I think it's pretty cool, different, etc.
Just a pic of one of my buddies. Done for his skateboard/snowboard sponsor.

I definitely see what you're going for, it's a fun edit but I wouldn't suggest doing it on every photo.

It feels a little hot to me. Maybe darken it just a tad so the subject is a little more defined? Right now it looks like he blends in with the background a little too much for my taste.

I agree with bphilleo. His hair and hat distract me from the rest of his face because they're so dark. I think the main issue is that your subject's face and the background are so close in color and exposure. I do like this photo though!
I get the feel that he's a snowboarder because of the overexposure and perhaps desaturation as well, which is pretty cool.

I like the concept, but I think the lack of detail in his face really takes away from it, particularly because you have something (the hat) which draws attention from the face since it has more contrast and detail than the face.

Not sure what you're using for PP, but I'd suggest some "clarity" boosting if using LR or some Local Contrast Enhancement with PS through the USM tool.

If there were more detail(or simply darkness in the details) in his face I think it'd be a prett damn good image.. i just feel it feels too washed out.

I use Photoshop.
Most of the photos from this shoot were darker and much much sharper etc. So this one was the oddball of the pack.
I will post up another in the next few days to get your guys' opinion on the polar opposite of this one! and see what you think!

Thanks for throwing out your opinions guys.

Have a good one.

I like this sort of photo and this is a good candidate, however, I would add contrast to the blacks in his eyes/eyelashes, nostrils/outside of nose and mouth to define those parts of his face that need to be defined.
