Default First photo session

This is a photo from my first photo session, I was pleased with how most of them turned out. I would love some constructive critism and feedback on how to improve. There are more on Flickr, TFL and your feedback!

Exposure 1/40
Aperture f/5.6
ISO 100

A couple of things Emily. Firstly, I'm not sure if it's the low rez version upload, but it appears that your image is a little soft, especially on the subject's faces/eyes. I also would have liked to have seen a different crop (in camera when taken) on this shot with the subject's moved further down the rail so that the rail would lead you into the image/subjects. Now, the rail behind them leads your eye away from them and out of the frame. I also looked at your shots on Flickr, and you will need to learn about use of fill flash and/or a reflector. Also, mixed dappled sunlight on subjects is rarely good..so you'd want to avoid that on setup shots whenever possible. It's all part of the ongoing learning process that we all have to keep working on.

Thanks for your reply Autofocus, I do agree about how the rail leads you back out of the photo. I will definitely keep in mind your suggestions!
