They just wouldn't keep still, so I had a heck of a job with my exposure! Does anything bother you? Did I get away with it????

Without the Exif, I have no idea what you might have "got away with", but it's a good picture.
IMO, it's just a touch overexposed and the WB is slightly warm, but very good as is.

This is the sooc. They were not in the mood for posing and were running in circles around me from sun to shade. I am getting quicker with my exposure, but as you can see the whites here are blown and I didn't have chance to close down to get the two in focus - grrrr. I have recovered the best I can, but I think the detail is just gone in parts. I don't put them in white for photos, but this was impromptu. Good experience - it has made me think what I need to do to get it right next time (apart from get slower models lol). Is it the whites you think are over exposed Steve, or overall? If I bring the exposure down for the whites then I loose colour in the heather - grrr. I will have another look at the colour when the sun goes down. Thanks ![]() ![]() Quote:

I think it's a touch hot overall...The highlight on the hair and her cheeks seem a bit harsh. Was this shot in raw? Did you recover everything possible?

Yes I think so :- ( I could drop the exposure a tad. I have added green and that is better. Frustratingly the only time to accurately colour edit in this room is after dark.
As I have though about it over the day, I think that the whites are simply blown and therefore can't be recovered completely. It has been a good lesson. Fingers crossed I will master (OK start to get) exposure this week. :-) Thanks again for your help.

As for exposure it looks ok, but overall final photo the sky and white balance could have been tweaked to increase the quality of the photo. Maybe increase the blues on the sky and wb to a bit cooler.

Thanks everyone. A year in and I still struggle with colour.
I am wondering if it would be a good idea to practice taking photos with them wearing white to practice exposure. I am assuming white is harder to photograph because it reflects more light than other colours and therefore over exposes more easily? I also assume there will be instances when the white is correctly exposed but that leaves the skin under exposed.
