Default Miss Trixie

Meet Trixie.

I work at a daycare, and was playing around with the camera because the kids just love it. Then my boss offered some extra money to me to take good shots to send home to the parents and put up on the walls. So I'd really like make the pictures look the best they can for the parents.

This picture is kind of stumping me, though. The lighting was especially tricky in this situation - it was dark and rainy outside, while the warmer tungsten lights inside were on, but only on one half of the room. I used a custom white balance which improved the coloration greatly, but I still think something just isn't quite "pow" yet. Any suggesting to how I can fix this in Photoshop in the present, and better handle such a light situation in the future?

Camera model: Canon EOS REBEL T3i

I think the issue here is your focus, and I don't mean focus of the camera, but what is your subject? It looks like it is the playground outside as that is what has proper white balance. you can fix the white balance for all of the image with some layers.

since she is sniper shot (dead center) I would crop so her head is at the point of rule of thirds and crop it so that its just her head, and hand and the outside.
