I ressurected this - well an impulse snapshot really (
) - and decided to try and do something positive with it. I first played around with the colour image, it looked okay, but it wasn't what I was hoping for. So, I cropped, added a B&W layer and played with the colour sliders until I was satisfied then I added some noise and finally the vignetting. Was I successful in turning this snapshot into a reasonable image for my collection? How's the contrast and does the fact that she's looking out to sea and not back at the camera take away from the shot. Any other comments also welcome. Thanks![]() The Swim by banphotography, on Flickr Camera Nikon D90 Exposure 0.001 sec (1/800) Aperture f/5.6 Focal Length 200 mm ISO Speed 200 Exposure Bias 0 EV Flash No Flash Exposure Program Manual

I resurrected what I had taken as a spur of the moment snapshot and I tried to do something with it to make not so much a "snapshot". I thought trying to make it look like a high speed b&w film photo would give the impression of an old 60's beach girl shot. That was where I was thinking. Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it and it will give me some food for thought.

I actually quite like the added noise - this looks sort of like a Holga image (and I happen to be a big fan of Holgas). Love the composition and crop. The only thing I'll nitpick is the conversion seems a bit muddy and dark. Perhaps brighten the midtones and whites a bit? See how the froth from the waves is grey, when it should be white?

I did as Michelle suggested and replaced the above image. I hope it was enough as I thought any more lightening of the foamy water would be too much.
