Post HELP! Is this too bright/over powering?

Hello. I took this photo in October/November last year and was just wondering if it was too bright? I mean, is it over powering? Does it look like I've used the flash on my camera and look terrible? I am 99% sure that I didn't use flash. It was a really foggy day so I don't really know how it ended up like that. Do you guys have any idea? I used my dads point and shoot camera (not a professional DSLR), a Fugifilm Finepix F10 thats a few years old now. I don't know the shutter speed etc. but it's pretty slow. I am an amature and still in school so please don't bang on about really advanced technical things I haven't done or used when shooting this photograph. Sorry if I've done this wrong or posted in the wrong critique section it's my first time and I'm not really sure how the posting stuff side to this website works. The picture is also on my Flickr ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/samantha-mclean/ ) it's called 'emotion<3'

Here's your EXIF, per critique forum rules (pulled from the Flickr page):

Exposure 0.008 sec (1/120)
Aperture f/2.8
Focal Length 8 mm
ISO Speed 400
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash Auto, Fired

It's definitely overexposed, and yep, you used the flash. Not familiar with that camera so I don't know how much control you can get with it, but I'd have shot at a much lower ISO and faster shutter speed.

Thank you! I'll do what I can to change the ISO and shutter speed next time but it's a point and shoot camera so I doubt I'll be able to change much Will probably need a more professional camera to be able to change those things. Thanks anyway - I didn't know you could get that sort of information off of Flickr! (I hope I've replied properly)

the auto feature is exposing for the large dark pics of the image, so the flash goes and the already bright spots completely blow.

No way to fix that on auto settings. You just need to watch your picture backgrounds so that you can get a more even looking pic

Not sure about your camera but my fuji finepix 1500 had a manual setting, it also had a place to turn of flash even in auto mode. Perhaps to can find a manual to download and read for your camera if you don't have one.
