Default Chocolate soldier

First time of trying mixed colour/b&w. A crop from a larger image of a gentleman caught relaxing during a 1940's weekend on the Churnet Valley Railway earlier this summer. Any comments, would be appreciated, as this is something I'd like to do a bit more of. For the record, the original was shot on a Panasonic DMC-G1 with 14-45mm kit lens, in program mode at 1/200s f=45mm ISO 200. Modifications were made in The Gimp.

"Bryer's ice cream..... if it's good enough for our Vets, then it's probably too good for you!"

Looks like an ice cream ad.

The thing about selective color, is the color part become the focus. If the desire was to pull attention from the uniform to the icecream, then job well done. Composition and b&w conversion work for me.

Now you've got me thinking, scootermcq! Your comment is extremely useful to me, as it has made me realise that I really didn't know what I was trying to achieve with this image. A good lesson learned, thanks.
