My daughter is participating in a pageant in a couple of weeks. She wants to enter the photogenic contest. We did a photo shoot yesterday and this was my favorite of the session. I would like to know from you guys if you think it's technically good enough to enter. I did some minor touchups using portrait professional.
Just an FYI...it's a natural pageant...no makeup allowed, it focuses on poise, self confidence and public speaking. ![]() Camera Nikon D300 Exposure 0.011 sec (1/90) Aperture f/4.0 Focal Length 50 mm ISO Speed 100 There are a couple of other shots from the session here.... Thanks, not really looking on a critique of her beauty, just whether the photo is technically good enough... compositions, exposure, skin tones, lighting, etc. I appreciate the input on the underexposure. Things always look brighter on my monitor!

I like the pose....but not the carvings in the tree looks like gang graffiti and very distracting...

The skin smoothing is a tad overdone for me. I'd take it down a notch - her skin has lost its texture. Other than that, I like it.

I think I would have liked it looser on the rt/top. The skin smoothing to me is ok, but it seems to have affected her eyes/eyebrows/mouth...I'd like those sharper.
As noted the graffiti, and brightness/contrast. Another option would be to go tighter.

Interesting, I like the carvings on the tree, but I didn't know it was gang graffiti!! Yikes. Not a good look for a pageant. I'll tone down the smoothing. We may do a reshoot this weekend in a different location. Just wanted to see if I was on the right track.
