Please critique, I need to actually plan more and think about what I want to capture, this was a recent shot... didn't plan for it but it happened to get captured. Anyway, I need to start getting critiqued so that I start to plan my shots! The general idea of the shoot was to capture a happy new family in the sun.

Hello Will.

I believe you have the basic ingredients here. However, there are a few problems.

First, a half-head growing out of an armpit is a definite no-no. It's also a little too bright and the colours seems washed out, but it's easy to fix.

I took the liberty of doing a little PP of your photo. I cloned out the partial head, reduced brightness with a little curves adjustment and boosted saturation a bit. Hope you don't mind.

However, if you do mind, just tell me and I'll take it down right away.

Thanks for the reply, I pushed it all toward the washed out look on purpose, something summery & nostalgic about that to me, maybe it doesn't read. I agree about the armpit head, I should have taken that out.

I like the washed out colors, and the summery feel of your image. And yes, the mom's head needs to be cloned out
