Default ideas on baby shot

I am VERY new to photography... looking for honest feedback and opinion.

The baby is very cute, but to have her on top of some rusty thing looks a bit weird. Also, it's overexposed in some areas, like her shirt. The next time you shoot, play around with your exposure compensation to see what looks best. The composition is okay, and I feel some tweaking to contrast/black levels can make the picture pop more.

looks like it back focused onto the metal...

I agree with using the Exposure comp, or if shooting manual look at your histogram and make sure it doesn't touch the right side. You might try some recovery in lightroom or like setting in whatever editing program you use.
