Hi and welcome to DPS

I like the conversion. As this is the cc section, I wonder if you could push the skin tones slightly to bring them out a little and burn the bright light on the lady (coat and knuckles).

I want to straighten it - only very slightly, perhaps using the vertical uprights as guides.

Only nit picks. Nice 'Street' (?) shot. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks for your comments, it was shot at a summer fete, I see your point about the vertical upright.

By your use of ASA terminology I suspect that you are a film photographer originally? Digital works in the inverse of film in that you should expose for the highlights and develop the shadows. If you are saying that you shot this at ASA 800 which is analogous to ISO 800 then you could have dropped your ISO/ASA level to 200 and saved the highlights and then pushed the shadows in development. You also didn't state what your shutter speed was but I suspect you had room to move and still keep your reciprocal rule on focal length.

Over all I like the environmental approach to the subjects, just need to fine tune the technical parts and you will be there.

Thanks for your comments. As a working photographer I shoot in jpeg as this speeds up my workflow. I try to get everything correct in camera. This was a high contrast day and I should have selected 400% d range to control the highlights and this would have saved more of the highlight detail.
Shutter speed was about 1/1000th sec. I like the security of a fast shutter speed when hand holding a 200mm manual focus lens shooting at equivalent of 300mm when considering sensor size.
I generally leave the camera on 800 asa as I rarely print above 18" X 12" and the S5 delivers outstanding results at 800 asa or below but does start to fall apart at higher asa settings.
