Default Skin Texture Advice

Hi,

I am just starting to play around with photoshop. I would be really grateful for any comments about the skin of my mate Steph. I have tried to improve it without making her look fake.

I would also value any comments about the colour this is something that I seem to really struggle with and have loads to learn. I know that it doesn't help not having my monitor calibrated.

Please excuse the finger to the left, it was taken just as another (highly mature, somewhat drunk friend) was about to stick her finger in Stephs ear

EOS 350D
Canon 50mm 1.8
F/4
1/60
ISO 400

Thanks
Kerry

I can't see it very well because for some reason the adverts are staying put on top of her - grrrrr!

From what I can see, the colour and skin smoothing looks spot on.

Why not post the before pic. That would help us to evaluate a bit.

You did a really good job in your edits. I like the composition/cropping. Did a nice job getting rid of red areas in her skin. Personally, I think you could go a bit further editing blemishes and moles. But, it is great IMO. If you wanted to go more "glamour/fashion" go all out and smooth the skin (it can be done without looking like she has a ton of foundation on - or fake as you say). But I assume this is more portrait than anything else.

I think you did a good job. I might think about getting rid of (or reducing) the shiny parts with some low opacity cloning.
