Default Close up by window light

Exif
D5000, 70mm f/4.5 1/50 sec, ISO 200, tripod, by a north facing window
20110704-DSC_7109

A little bit of Lightroom editing, lightening the lights and darkening the darks, reduced vibrance.
Would love a general critique of lighting, composition, really any glaring problems you might see.
Thanks in advance.

I can't find anything to criticise. Great shot in many ways - colour, light, composition and pose.

Strong portrait - great Rembrandt lighting.

I hope you don't mind but I had a quick play. Let me know if you would rather I took it down....
Cropped - would be even stronger if you have room in your original sooc on the right to allow fractionally wider crop?
Warmer on yellow, added green
added vignette
I tried sharpening eyes but didn't work on jpeg. Do you shoot RAW?

I also think it is a strong image in b&w....

Finally I tried straightening the crop using the level through his pupils. That gives a really strong image slightly different to above, but the crop becomes too tight from your posted shot.

Really like this shot

Thanks so much everyone. Whew, I'm quite surprised and excited that you all like it so well. I guess that means I'm making baby steps in the right direction.

Nicola, I don't mind that you edited at all and I like your edits. In fact I did do a small crop so there is just a bit more room on the original. As far as you color edit, it is a very subtle change and I like it. He does have some red undertones to his skin though, so they both look believable to me. A lot of these subtleties of color are a bit lost on me, so I definitely need to learn more there.

I love the black and white by the way. Oh, I do shoot raw and did a bit of work on his eyes, but perhaps didn't sharpen enough.

Again thank you everyone for the responses. I appreciate your taking the time to help a fellow photographer along the journey.
