Its an interesting and artistic shot, and I can see that you are trying to tell some sort of story with it, however it doesn't really draw me in... I think there just isn't enough there to make me create a story in my mind, and if you hadn't explained it as 1940's legs I'd probably not have guessed.
As there is only one leg with a red shoe the only thing I can think is that one of the women is disabled ![]() I like the concept, I just think there needs to be more in the shot to tell a story, but that might just be me. |

Thanks ajax_andy, it is interesting to hear how differently other people interpret these things. I perhaps ought to think more about what attracts me to take a shot in the first place, in order to get the best value out of it.
No, she wasn't disabled (just cross-legged), and it never occurred to me that it could be seen so. Perhaps if I were to cheat and introduce the bottom of a spurious walking stick..............? |

For sinque's benefit, I am attaching a further image to show what wonderful characters you can meet on these 1940's events. I know it needs the unwanted background detail removing, but it was the characterisation I was after.

Ok, your last image made me laugh, I hope he doesn't have his nightstick with him, He looks like he wouldn't take to much guff lol. By the way, I think photographing something this would be so fun. I do wonder what some of these would look like in sepia. Thanks for making me grin lol.
