Arrow Cowboy Engagement

IMG_0010.CR2

This image was shot with a Canon Rebel XS, shutter speed 1/800, no flash, f4.0, ISO 1600, focal length 55mm. I did use a reflector to bounce some light back into the barn. I'm not afraid of criticism, I am trying to get better. I personally feel like it is a little dark. I have limited resources for lighting, including pop up flash and a reflector.

First a little hint: at the top right of your photo there's a tiny down arrow beside the Twitter logo. Click on this and get the html code to embed your photograph into your post. FWIW from an amateur, I really like your shot, it's well framed/composed, but needs more light on the couples faces and the sunlight to their right is a little distracting. Still a very good shot nevertheless. For a budget reflector use a sheet of white foam-core from an art shop or a silver car dashboard protector - a couple of bucks at K-Mart, just need somone to hold it for you

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

I totally agree with Bruce. Great shot, well arranged. But the light coming through behind her head is a distraction that takes away from what is otherwise a cool shot. Perhaps a solid background with the wood wall would make it just right.

I agree with the others. I'd like to add (and this is my personal preference) that it looks a little cool/blue like the white balance was set to daylight rather than shade?
Also, the shutter speed is quite high, and so is the iso. You had enough 'room' to lower the iso and shutter speed and still get a sharp image, but reduce the noise that comes with the high iso. I don't notice any grain in this (I'm on my iPad tho) but just something to think about for next time. Nice job!
