Default Shooting in to the sun

This is another shot from my Rock N Roll themed shoot yesterday, and was my 1st attempt at shooting in to the light and capturing sun beams in a portrait shot.

How did I do? And more importantly what could I do next time to make it better?

The rest of the set can be found here - Keil Parker - Rock n Roll - a set on Flickr

Exif Data:

Camera Canon EOS 450D
Exposure 0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperture f/7.1
ISO Speed 200
Lens EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

Nice backlit - well done

The sun is on my screen a the mo so I can't comment on colour. My only nit pick would be to burn the bright spot on the floor to his right. If there is room, I would also like to see a tiny bit of space at the end of the guitar so it doesn't lead you out of the image.

Good job

Thanks for the feedback

Good idea about the bright spot on the floor to his right, I hadn't noticed that but would look better if it matched the rest of the floor.

Also good point about the guitar, I was lying on the ground at a funny angle to get the shot and it was hard to compose, but I also was a bit disappointed to see that I hadn't at least left a small amount of room to the side of it once I loaded it up at home

If you are so inclined, you may be able to stretch out that side of the portrait and then clone around the edge of the guitar. It depends if it would help to practice that technique lol

Haha yeah i've tried that before with mixed results... It wasn't for a paying client, just for practice with my next door neighbour as felt I was getting a bit rusty after not doing a portrait shoot for a while.

I think if it was for a paying client I'd try it, but best to try and get it right in shot next time I think
