Default First Time W/ Reflector

Took my daughter to a local park for her 4 year old portraits yesterday. I used a white piece of foam board for a reflector.. it was about 3pm so the sun was bright, but I was able to find some shade, or have it behind/beside her to bounce the light w/ the foam board.

What are your thoughts on this one? Is it too soft? Like the vignette or no? Reflector doing it's job?

I think it is great! I love her eyes. Did you process them at all? I like vins on the whole but I think this one is a little too much and distracting from the beautiful portrait. If it is in another layer you can just reduce the opacity of that layer. Many people here and on flickr do not like vins so I think it is personal pref.
I never thought of using a white foam board.

Thank you for the feedback... I never used to like vignettes, but they've grown on me recently... I tried it again & reduced it, and agree it looks better.

I didn't do much PP... just cropped it really, and added the vin.

She is beautiful! Perfect focus and what a cute expression! For me the vignette is way too much. The white balance is off as well...she is very yellow, verging on green. Easy fix though!

Thank you Lisa... I did tone down the vignette based on the feedback.

I have the hardest time getting the white balance correct for her skin tone sometimes... I do agree with the 'yellow'.

I don't have any PP programs...except Picasa. I was trying to fix the WB in camera but still couldn't get it right. By easy fix do you mean using a program to fix it?

Ya, I'm not sure how Picassa works. I shoot in Raw and can adjust my white balance with 2 sliders in Lightroom...one controls the blue/red, and the other the greens (yellows) and magenta. I just tinker with them until the color looks right.

If I were you, I would get a copy of Lightroom, start shooting RAW (for future reference), and fix that yelllow overcast on the photo and the tad overexposure on her shirt. I'm not a fan of vignetting, but everyone is difference. But, anyway, this photo is still adorable!

You can download and use LR for free for 30 days and decide if you want to buy it. I LOVE it.

I love Lightroom. It's a big help with fixing white balance problems. I'm still learning on how to get the settings right in camera.

I also love this picture. If you really like the vignette, you should keep it, but you could lighten it up so it doesn't take over the picture.

She's a cute girl!
