Default First time Cloning out and using textures

This is the first time I've ever cloned anything out (there was an electrical pole and a car behind her). Anndd, it's the first time I've used textures. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. =)

Canon Rebel XS

well.. I can't tell there was a pole and a car there but I can't see any texture either..
other than that, the background is way way way overexposed.

Yes, I know it's over exposed. I kind of liked the look though.

You did a great job cloning out whatever was there. If that's the look you were going for, then you shouldn't care that we think the background is overexposed.

+1 on that!
what we think is irrelevant if you like it like this

There is a little bit of smear shadow to the left of her eye but if you didn't know to look for it most people wouldn't see it.

I think the image is good if that's what you want. Blown out backgrounds do not bother me when they are obviously not part of the photo's subject.

But, if you are planning to make a large version, you should know that your brush strokes in the picture would likely be very visible, particularly in the lower left quadrant. It might be better to use a brush with a softer edge. And then do the brush strokes on a separate layer that you can blur. I think in a larger version it would look like some scribbled on the photo.

Also, for me, the structure (house?) in the background competes for attention with the subject. I keep looking at it, wondering what it is. As long as you are redesigning the scene, maybe it would be a good idea to remove that as well, so that she appears to be on a beach with nothing else around.
