Default One spring afternoon

I do not normally take portraits, if you want to critique maybe give me advice on how I could have pulled more detail out of this shot, made it more interesting. Id like comments on how to improve my photography "in camera" rather than post processing. The only thing I did to this is deepen the contrast just a bit. Thank you.

It is really underexposed. That is really the big killer for me. I would also say cutting off part of the nose looks like a mistake, so I would probably crop it right down the center so it looks like a diliberate act.

I would have opened the aperture right up to get the face perfectly jn focus and to blow out the background. That would have resulted in a better exposed shot, and as a result, you'd have got a lot more detail in the girls face.

Well shucks. I'll be sure to open up that aperture next time around. Scooter, your absolutely right about my composition. I cropped the image right down the middle of her nose. Looks much better. Thanks Fellas your input is appreciated.

I find it slightly disturbing that the forehead is cropped that way.
Because the hairline is not includes at the top of the image, it looks like her forehead could go on forever. I would either crop off half of the exposed forehead, or include her hairline.
Also crop down the center of the nose like Scott suggested.
