I had the chance to shoot a few photos of this little girl at a local VBS while mom was waiting for her older sister. I tried to make sure the background wasn't distracting, but I was wondering if I should try and edit out the crumbs or if I should leave them alone. I like them, but some of my friends think they have to go....

Crumbs and composition are fine. The magenta cast is not. The baby's skin tones are off due to the camera not being able to find the correct white balance. Try setting the WB to cloudy and it should give you more natural skin tones. And the focus is soft on the eyes. Did you or the camera pick the ISO?

The camera did. Can I correct the cast with the "curves" setting on the editing tools?

I tried last night to remove the magenta and was not too successful. Sorry.

I don't think it is really a magenta cast -- there is certainly extra magenta reflected by the magenta-ish clothes and stuff surrounding the baby. But I think the predominant cast is cyan, typical for shots in the shade of the sun. Knocking down the cyan first, and then bumping up the yellow seems to help. The skin seems a bit more natural. Also, fair-skinned babies tend to have splotches of red/magenta, especially if there has been crying in the recent past.

Crumbs are always good! And the focus is a soft on the eyes.
