in case you're wondering, your flickr page gives you all of the exif data that is really needed for a critique, you'll notice that to the right of the image it says "taken on a Nikon D80" if you click that, it'll take you to the exif page.
also, the critique section guidelines indicate that you need to ask for something more specific about what you would like critiqued. for example: focus, composition, subject, etc...

Thank you . . . New to this site and still trying to figure things out.
I am wondering if the angle is okay? Is the color too vivid . . . ideas -- if I were to do it different what could I do to make it better? I love photography and really want to learn more! |

No problem.
Normally I'm not a fan of having the horizon at an angle in images, but it seems to work in this one. Exposure, contrast and colour all look good on my screen, but there is one distraction, The red sign at the centre of image, two things that snatch a viewers focus in any image are red, and writing. If you were to have the opportunity for this shot again, id say to avoid the sign. however being a candid, its kind of unavoidable, so perhaps a bit of photoshop might be in order (just remember to clone out the post as well as the sign)

The composition plays to the scene so that is good and it doesn't bother me in this case as it doesn't come across as contrived. Not bothered too much by the sign either as it also plays into the scene. The girls are prominent and are the readily apparent subject. The little one is posed to tell the story and does it well. I like the fact that they are interacting with the dogs and the road. I can see why it appealed to you. It looks like you shot this in jpeg fine and let the camera develop the capture? If so you can go into the menu settings and choose vivid and the jpeg will come SOOC with more contrast and saturation and some slight sharpening. I did this in Capture NX2 and it helps with making them pop out of the photograph don't you think?
Jim P.S. Will remove the edit if you request. |

Wow . . . thank you for the edit . . . it looks great, and I can see the difference.
I did not know about the SOOC technique. I always shoot jpeg, and play with the contrast using photo edit program. Now I have something to practice and learn to make my photo's better. Thank you so much! |
