Smile Curly girly

This is a photo of my daughter. I realise I chopped a bit of her head off, and some stray hairs are really annoying me! I was shooting into the sun so tried to use fill in flash - was it too strong? Are her skin colours alright? She is very pale in skin colour.

May 2010

Camera Sony DSC-W210
Exposure 0.002 sec (1/500)
Aperture f/5.8
Focal Length 21.4 mm
ISO Speed 400
Exposure Bias -1 EV
Flash On, Red-eye reduction, Return detected

Thanks for your help

First off, your daughter is gorgeous! Here is my critique, for what it's worth. I can definitely tell flash was used because of the pinlights in her eyes. A reflector works GREAT when you are backlighting...maybe try that next time? You don't even need anything fancy...for the longest time, I just used a big piece of white foam board I bought at the local office supplies store. also, I would have turned her a bit so she was more backlit and less side litif that makes sense. HTH!

Thanks for your suggestions - I have never used a reflector. I see that you are mum to 8 - any tips for managing multiple children and gear? Do you have someone carry your reflector? Thanks

Lisa H, I have just looked at your website - I love your work! I love how you really capture emotion and I especially love your 'connections' part of your galleries. One of my aims with my amateur photography is to capture relationships between my family members. You have some great moments there.
