Default On the swings

This was the best in a series of shots. I was experimenting with different perspectives and couldn't seem to get the exposure right. She was either too dark or the sky was blown out. This was a time where I had to act fast and didn't have time to set up any extra equipment or the moment would be lost. Any suggestions on what to do if all I had on hand was the 18-55m kit lens and camera? Would a polarizing filter help? Also do you think the composition works? Lastly, would shooting in RAW help in trying to post process this? Thanks

Hi.

I love the shot, great idea too.

How about cropping to portrait format? Remove the boys head and other swing.

As for lighting, I like it, but maybe a fill flash could have helped. (Would have lowered your shutter speed though, so perhaps some kind of reflector).

good shot, I like the overall concept so I'll ignore the obvious issues that larlyboi mentioned.
I would love to see this shot with a balanced lightning which will help you bring back the sky.
try laying down a reflector on the ground so the light will be bouncing back to her face.

Thanks for the input. Now I can use the excuse with my wife when I go and buy a reflector that I had to. It is here in writing! I guess all the weird looks from people on the playground were worth it while I was trying to get the shot.
