Default too many distractions?

I really liked the way this shot turned out at first...THEN I realized the blown out rock behind him and the partial stump in the bottom right hand corner. I took this shot using spot metering on his face which blew out parts of the background. I should have used my 600 sppedlight but I didn't, and I didn't have a reflector. So, do these distractions ruin the image? Are there others I should be aware of? What could I have done differently setting wise........knowing I should of used a reflector or speedlight as best options. Any other opinions on processing, composition are welcome as always. Thanks in advance.

I like the shot the way it is, and too me there are no distractions. It just all adds to the shot and makes it interesting..makes me wonder where he's sitting and what he's looking at and it helps that he's a cutie

The subject is fantastic. I think that if it was me, I would be tempted to portrait crop on him up to (not including) the door frame in the background. The tighter framing and loss of contrast on the rock highlights would remove those slight distractions.

Oh my gosh he is darling!!! I love it! The way he is sitting there like that and the expression on his face is priceless! Nothing takes away from him in my mind; my eyes go strait to him and they don't leave. In fact, I think the other elements add to the photo. The shapes and textures add interest and frame him nicely. Excellent capture!!! He is so handsome!

I love this image, for me there is no destructions with other elements on the frame but they are complimenting each other, horizontal lines of your background, to vertical lines on the side, to the rock foreground, you did a natural framing and it helps to draw attention to your little cutie (hmmmmmm very cute)... the backlighting is very nice too, the sepia tones suit to the feelings, for me, nothing to worry with this image, very nicely done, congratulations.
