Red face Interesting Perspective.

Hi all -

After a lot of lurking, I finally took the step of posting - so yay for me.

I am a beginner - still learning (think I always will be!) - so would love some direction/suggestions on where I am going wrong - what I am doing well/ok and so on.

I took this photo of a little fellow I look after - and just loved the perspective/expression! I used my Canon 600D with the standard 18-55mm lens.

I think it's quite a nice fun photo.
Seems nice and sharp where it needs to be.
B&W conversion is very good.

This is one of those images, that though with flaws, the 'feel' or emotion or pure 'flavor' of it makes up for those small things. I'd be very happy with it.

Having said all that, if possible I would have tried to do these two things which might have made it better.. might not have.
1. Do you have any versions with both eyes visible?
2. I'm being picky, but I'd really have liked it had the toes not been composed out of the image. If this is a result of a crop, then do you have a version that has the whole of the feet? In fact a slightly wider crop/composition might have been nicer for me.. but again, being picky.

Still, be happy, it's a great shot a parent would be very happy with.

by the way.. your title is very appropriate. I'm constantly yelling at people to change the perspective and I'm happy to see you did. It immediately changes images!

Thanks!

And I was a bit nervous about picking this particular image for my first post for those very reasons - and I didn't get a shot that had the expression (in clear focus!) and both sets of toes (he was swinging!).

But this photo really is what I love about photography, and what I want to do more of, and also improve on. I am a little bit of a perfectionist!

One thing the newer nice cameras allow you is the "room for error" thing.
What I mean is that I find myself consciously leaving a bit more space around my subjects so that I can play with the cropping/composition later in case I think of something better than what I was thinking at the time of the actual shot.
