Default This is the world we live in. .

. .

This is the world we live in where one is sad and other is happy on the other side. This man just happened to be in this photo sitting all alone by himself and on far other side there is a couple sitting on the bench. I think the photo does create some dramatic emotions.
let me know what you guys think or if you can think of a better story for this photo?! or what else could have been done to make it more dramatic? let me know if you guys wanna experiment with the image and i'll make a RAW file available for you guys.
Thank you in advance

Wow - I'd love it if the trees didn't have those hideous belts on them. Nice lines & colors, though.

Question

Why do the trees look like they are wrapped in duct tape?

Whomever is in charge of the trees hates squirrels. Those are tree squirrel fences.

And yes the wraps made me sad.

Theres nothing you can do about the trees. I was wondering if the story could have been made more clear if the shot was taken from a distance more closer to the loneman. Since he is the symbol of loneliness here, the bench in the foreground could be done with. By reframing from by the side of the man, we might be able to see the contrast (couple) more clearly. this is my humble opinion. Overall, the shot looks nice, but it doesnt convey the story clearly.

I love the concept, but I think vihara is right. I didn't even see the couple at first glance. Only after you mentioned them did I look back, and then I saw them in the distance. I think the contrast of emotions you were going for would have worked much better if both emotions were a more obvious part of the image. If the couple was on the bench closest to the camera it would probably work much better. I realize that you probably didn't have much control of it because it was a candid shot, but it's something to think about. The things on the trees are very distracting too, but you couldn't do much about that either. I do like how you composed it looking down the path though, and the leaves on the ground are cool too. Keep shooting!

i really like this photo! the composition and colours are perfect, and i agree, it does convey something. however, i think the vignetting is much too strong.

Ha ha! I've walked down this path in winter, recognised those possum barriers straight away. In NZ we have them on power poles to stop the possum climbing up and frying themselves.
I like the image a lot, love the colours. Like the others I didn't notice the couple til you mentioned it and then its still hard to tell that there is two of them down there. I like the candidness of the guy on the bench on his own though.

Default Thanx everyone for teh replies. .

I appreciate everyone's opinion. i understand how everyone thinks the story in this image is not clear. every time i shoot or see a picture i can feel the emotions but i always struggle to convey the message and for this photo i was just out for a photo walk when i got this shot. i didn't want to get into someone's comfort zone so i chose to take a shot from a distance.
anyways i just want to thank you all for stopping by and replying. your honest opinion really helps me improve.
kind regards

I like the composition, but the colors seem to be a little too saturated for my taste
