Took this and many others this past week and took advantage of the clear sky and good lighting. I tried a lot of different angles, I'm still working on getting my aperture perfect for each photo but I feel I am getting better. Let me know what you guys think. And the rest of the set can be seen here Maniac Mondays - a set on Flickr

No no, you are right. This angle is really not flattering for any girl. Makes your hips look bigger than they need to be, heightened more with the wide angle length this was taken at. Also, looking up the nose is not very nice, either.
The angle on this is the issue and it's not very comfortable to look at. Exposure and all is good, but it's just desiring a better angle. I've also just quickly looked at the other photos on flicker and the posing just doesn't work for me. You need to find more natural poses for your models/subjects rather than "pose for me" shots. Natural and relaxed in a non-fashion photography works the best. Sorry I'm not offering a more constructive criticism. I'm a bit rusty and tired :0 |

What I am supposed to be looking at? The models or the beautiful scenery? In general the pouty butt up boobs out poses are tired. Both of your models are quite pretty, but every single pose is the same. Did you try to get them to do anything else but turn around and pout? I think technically they are well done, but from a composition, story telling perspective they are lacking. Since you are friends, it might be fun if you tried to get them to interact with you and show off their beauty rather than those quasi sexy poses.
Just my amature opinion.

Thanks for the critique guys and gal. I knew the angle would be not to many peoples' liking when I took it but I've been experimenting and trying all sorts of unorthodox, I guess you could call them that, angles. I don't want to have the same angle everyone else shoots every time I guess.
As far as my friends' poses, I was concentrating on myself more really. I was thinking about my angle, lighting, composition, etc. so I didn't bother to tell them to change it up. But next time I will since I feel more comfortable with my photography skills and won't concentrate on myself as much. Thanks again! |
