Default Engagement Shoot

This was the first shoot I've ever done. I'm a high school student and not yet confident in my photographic abilities, however, it was a close friend of mine who asked me to shoot their engagement photos and I gladly accepted the opportunity.

Camera: Fujifilm Finepix S2550
f3.8
ISO 200

I'd much appreciate some critique on other photos from the shoot as well. You can view the whole set on Flickr here.

Thanks in advance! C:

I'm not digging the angle. You cut off their feet. Try to not to crop fingers, toes, or at the joints. Go for mid arm, mid leg, etc. Try to keep the heads in a clean spot. Here they're kind of half in the negative space created by the water and half in the rocks.

As far as the set, I wouldn't have a color and BW of the same image for every image. If there's one or two that you just can't decide which treatment you like, that's fine. But not every image. There's some train tracks, of course. Get that out of your system now and then go find some better locations.

There is a moment going on in pic 6C that I like, but they look a little soft. My favorite shot is the last one, against the wall. I love all the negative space. I would have offset them a little more into the right third. The lighting is a little dicey, but I like the idea and concept. This shot would be really cool lit with some off camera flash.

Good job, keep at it.

I like the image, but- as suggested by Rentham- feet should have not been cut off. Wider aperture- I think would have helped to blur the background f2.8 if your lens supports it, but maximum f4. After all the photo is about the couple- not the waterfall, so that would be better out of focus. I also think it would be a good shot in Monochrome.Personally I don't mind the high viewpoint.

I agree with the cropping issue. Also, it might be my iPad but the color seems a bit saturated for my taste. Heavy on the reddish pink.
