Does this work, does it try to convey a story of sorts?? Should I crop tighter to get her out of the center? I know I cut off an elbow and some hair, but it was literally a split second opportunity. aside form the composition I'm looking for pointers on settings. I'm also not very well versed in PP

Well Buddha, you said you had thick skin, so please don't be offended by my comments. You ask if it conveys a story, and honestly, I can't quite get a read on that. I don't know who she is, what she is doing, what the occasion was, and why she has flowers pinned (?) to her back. Maybe a little more of what the occasion was included in your composition would tell more of the story. The flowers being so bright along with the really bright spot on her head really dominates the composition, and takes your eye away from the subject. Sorry guy, but that's what I see.

AF, would this photo be a candidate for your B&W process from your other thread?
I was also trying to figure out the story with this shot. It seems to be from some sort of recital/wedding. She looks to be resting after her moment. It needs to be processed to fix the highlight issues. The elbow doesn't bother me much at all. The flowers are being held by her hand to them resting on her shoulder is why they are there. So that doesn't bother me either. You did get the focus on the green leaves though and that is leaving the rest of the photograph soft. Sometimes you get the fish, sometimes not. You could and probably should crop off the left side as the rail she is resting on leads out of the frame. Jim Last edited by JFSanders; 05-29-2011 at 06:12 PM. |
