Default Little J

I took this of my son because we found what we thought was a cool wall to take portraits at. Please let me know what you think of the composition, exposure, etc. and feel free to let me know of any thing that I could have done better. I have learned a lot from this site and hope to continue to do so. Thanks in advance for your help!

I would probably crop out the part of the wall that is solid red.

He's so cute, Jaxon!

I'd have firstly put him in a shirt that didn't fight with the background, The yellow plaid against the graffiti is really busy. Secondly, I'd have leaned up against the wall, further back from him most likely, to have the foreground OOF and him in focus, for more of a leading line. In this pic, my eyes immediately look to his left and at the graffiti on that side. Also would have shot in portrait orientation rather than landscape. Lastly, He's a bit cool - I'd warm him up a touch.

The light is really pretty. It's not flat and you got great catchlights!

Thanks for the reply. OK, so if I have this in portrait orientation, I would have to be much further back to have his right side OOF, right? I tried to crop this using the rule of thirds with his forehead (or the bridge of his nose, I can't remember). How would I use the rule of thrids in portrait mode for a shot this close?

Thanks for the help!
