Default Too hot or not?

Does anyone think her right side is too hot? It's not blown out but it seems distracting to me and I'm wondering if anyone else thinks the same. Or am I being overly critical?

I'd say blown out. There's no definition on the right side of the face. Same goes for the area from her neckline to the bustline of her dress.

You have a nice concept on this one, but....and yes it is blown out, there is nothing bad to have a blown out image as long as it adds and enhance your photo, with this...sorry to tell, it doesn't work..may be you can leave some definition on her face and body, your lighting is so harsh maybe you shoot in the middle of day.. I can't suggest further, please post your EXIF for us to know, what happen technically in this picture.

Thanks for all the feedback. When I say it's not blown out I just meant it's not clipped. But thank you guys for confirming my concern. It was taken late in the day in sunlight with flash for fill. I think the problem is more from processing as opposed to overexposing. I did sort of a bleach bypass on it and then for poo-poos and chuckles turned it black and white and really liked the contrast. In the original that side may be slightly overexposed but definitely not to the degree of this version. Guess I need to go back to PS and try to bring it down some.

@Andsome- What do you mean by wishy washy?

Agreed that it's blown out, but other than that it's absolutely lovely. How did you do your conversion?

Thank you very much. Considering how much and how long I've admired your work that is a big compliment for me. I did a sort of bleach bypass by doing a hue/sat layer, clicking colorize, desat a bit then change blend to screen and lowered opacity. A slight contast bump with curves then a gradient layer to make it b&w.

You are too sweet!

Have you considered doing a simple gradient map and a curves or levels adjustment, without doing the bleach bypass, etc.? I think you'd get some really nice tones and contrast without making it hot.

And you are an amazing photographer. And it's very encouraging for me when I see that we have similar equipment. Let's me know that it will eventually be possible for me to get that kinda quality once I have the skill. I do usually do something along those lines but this one I didn't intend for it to be B&w. My intention was just the bleach bypass but I have a thing about randomly turning photos b&w at some point just to see what it looks like, and that was the case here. I did it just for poo-poos and chuckles and really liked what I saw so I kept it. I'll hafta go back and re-edit it with the intention of b&w and see what happens.
