Default Silhouette Shot

This is my try at a silhouette shot. I don't think it turned out to bad but something just seems off.

Nikon D300
35mm
f5.0
1/100s
ISO 400

Is anything I could have done then or now in photoshop to make it look even better?

It depends. Do you really want the sky to be completely blown out?

The horse on the right side kind of blends into part of the doorframe, losing most of its shape on that side. It just feels a little heavy, to me, on the right side. I think the framing with the edges of the doorframe around the top and sides weighs the photo down a bit, also. The photo is about the child and the horse, but the doorframe is the same shade as the two subjects. That distracts away from the subjects of your photo. Perhaps try to crop it a little different?

It would work better for me if there was something more interesting in the background. Clouds, sunset, etc...

In landscape photography, when you shoot is more important than where you shoot.
