Love the concept, looks awesome
I'm finding the DOF a little distracting though. I know what you're doing cause I would have done the exact same thing. maybe bump up the exposure around the eye a bit?

Heya Marcus,
Though I'm not a big fan of the color, I also don't have any glaring critiques of the image. The one thing I would say, and I think it's pretty important, is that this is an image I've seen a bazillion times. And because of that, this one just doesn't stand out for me. Don't get me wrong, we've all been down that 'eye close up' phase, myself included (just like with selective coloring, bad borders, etc) it's just that if you want to make your image stand out, you have to ask yourself whether you've seen this before (it's really difficult to find something truly original anymore) and how you can make yours different and weird colors in the iris just isn't enough for me. As an example, I include THIS link which is my attempt at an 'eye close up' back in the day and I remember really asking myself how can I make it different.. and that's what came out of it which I think makes it at least a bit different than the trazillions you see on flickr.. i hope. As a said, it's a nice image, very little wrong, but you have to push yourself to really make your images stand out. |
