Default Mother's Day Picture cnc please

I do not have a studio so I put her in front of the door with a lamp behind her. What do you guys think? If you have a criticism that's fine just please tell me how to do it better too. Thanks!

Helllo there. First of all, it would be very helpful if you checked out the sticky at the top of the critique area and made sure you were following the critique rules. We can help you a lot easier if have your exif data and if you ask a specific question.
Having said that.
It is a cute shot. I think that you need to improve the composition in this. It bothers me that I can't tell what she is looking at. If there were more space on the left, even some of the glass showing, then I would have an idea that she is looking outside. But with this tight framing/crop, all I see if her.
For some reason, I cannot enlarge this photo but at this size it seems like her face is a bit soft. I can't really say for sure where you focus landed, but it appears to be in the area of her hair and ear.
Also, I might have stepped her away from the door/glass just a bit. Seems like the light on the lower part of her face is just a little too much.
I hope that helps.

Thank you so much Nicole!! I completely forgot the exif data... exposure time 1/125, ISO-200, F/5 and really right now I don't always know what to ask until I get feedback like yours and go do another shoot to try to fix my mistakes.

I have some where you can see the window a little bit...the problem is I can only show a little bit of it because I don't want people to be able to see the siding out the window. If you like you can look at the rest of the photos at Pictures by justhe9ofus - Photobucket

You are right I did land the focus on her ear instead of her face. I really am just learning...I do a good job with seeing things in terms of expression but I know nothing about the technical aspect of things. I look forward to learning though!

OKay, looking at your album just the ones of Victoria....
18-better focus on her face. See her nice crisp eyelashes......that is how they should be.
14 and 15-I like that you can at least see that she is looking out a window. It adds context to the photo.
It takes practice. posting here and having others point out these little details is the best thing you can do improve...in my opinion anyways. Good luck!!
