Default First Photo Shoot

Hey, these are a couple friends of mine that wanted some pics. Any suggestions that would make these pictures better would be great. I would have liked the first one to be less blurred on their faces but I know how to correct this. On my next shoot I will use a tripod and remote to make the pictures sharper, as I didn't on this shoot.
Also it was in winter and the sun was really bright. Alot of my pictures were just a white screen, anyone know what I was doing wrong?

Cheers!

Both of these images look great. The first image is tack sharp, your focus is on the window frame instead of the couple. Shooting through windows can be tough, since cameras always want to focus on what is closest to them. Good job

Thank you. I actually did get some pictures where the frame is blurred and the subjects are focused but it didn't have the same feel. I looked at your website you are an amazing photographer and I enjoyed your pictures

If your photos were turning out all white, then there were very over exposed. If you posted your settings and the mode that you were using, we could surely help you out with that and tell you specifically what you did wrong. But generally when they are too white, you need to speed up the shutter, decrease your ISO, or chose a smaller aperature (bigger number). Maybe a little of each, depends on the situation.

As it was my first time taking pictures of anyone other than the kids, I can't remember what settings I was on when I was getting the white screen. I was in A-DEP and/or Manual mode but I was so flustered that I couldn't tell you the settings, I know I was trying many. I will definatly take your advice and hopefully next time it won't happen! Thanks

The camera records the settings for every single photo. Just go to one of the photos, right click, and select properties, then details. It will all be there. This is called your exif data.
