Default My favorite Model...A little overlit perhaps?

IMG_3866B

My wife got her hair cut (dramatically I might add) and asked me to do some portraits. I think I got the lights to close to her to compensate for the dark back ground and dark clothing. Other than playing with the lighting, what could I do to improve it?

Looks a little hot on her face but not overwhelming. Did you burn down the background in post or something? She seems to have a bit of a halo. I think the crop should be a little tighter as well. The arms are distracting and all that space above her head doesn't give us anything. Maybe crop in to a head and shoulders shot.

I would have tilted her face back instead of forwards... I feel like I'm leaning forwards just to compensate looking at it.

Black background doesn't do her justice with black clothing on. Her skin, arms, chest and face, look dayglo.

I would have moved the light a little closer to the camera at a higher angle, so the light would fall over her instead of across her from the right.

Hi,

Not sure how good you are with photoshop but its possible to make her face a little less over exposed using the curves tool.

Its only a little bit bright so that would work quite well
