Default A father's love

I'm wondering if this composition works - is the father leaning in too distracting? Didn't want him holding the baby or completely in the photo, but wanted to show the emotion of a new father with his daughter.

Like the shot ...what if you had cropped just above the fathers eyes and made the image alot tighter? Just a thought.

I don't mind the shot but would rather have seen it horizontal. There is a lot going on in such a small space for a vertical shot. Also, I think it has too much smoothing and the colors on the baby are distracting. I think newborns look better naked or very minimal clothing.

I agree with Culpy. That will make the image great!

Thanks - Sometimes we just can't see what's right in front of us. I played with it some and cropped it down and it does look much better. Been looking at it too long and needed some fresh eyes.

fofazoju - the photo does not have any smoothing done to it - the only pp that has been done is a little adjustment on brightness and a smidgeon of contrast added - other than that I hadn't even taken the little bit of rash off the chin yet on this photo.

As to the clothes..... I agree that I really like the photos of naked babies or minimal clothes - but when mom says no - then it's no - - and you roll with what you have.

I personally would have liked to see a larger (?) DoF, the blurring of the fathers head in the foreground I find a bit distracting. I also agree that it may be better with either
a. a closer crop
or
b. taken horizontaly

Over all i love the feel of the photo and what you were trying to accomplish.
