You're underexposed in the first shot. better in the second. Might want to move the light a little more towards the front as it appears you didn't get a catchlight. Also the way the light comes across the face you pick up the edges of herlower jaw on the shadow side...not that that is bad per se but usually/typically you want to get that on the cheekbone. A typical rembrant light would have the shadow side cheekbone lit in an inverse triange.

the first shot was taken in natural light with reflector, but it wasn't enough so we moved into the studio. i used an AB 400 with umbrella reflector for the 2nd shot. i had it off to a 45 degree angle, but perhaps i should have moved it closer to front, like you suggested. i will be sure to try that next time. there are a few other shots that are not edited yet that may have better lighting. i'll try to share when they're ready. what exactly is a rembrandt light? f |
