Its a nice picture, the only thing I do not like about it is the builging in the background sort of overtakes the scene. It would have been better to have composed it where it was out of the shot. How long did he have to stand there t get the water to settle down for such a great reflection?

Great reflection shot. There seems to be a tilt to the left. Also, getting that background out of focus (or out of the picture) would made your focus point really pop imo.

Thanks everyone.
I agree that shallower depth of field would have made the image a little more arresting.. I was running around i the sun snapping pic for fun and this one really caught my eye. Maybe ill go back and try it again with a little more preparation! There seems to be a tilt to the left, but the pier is actually warped so getting a flat horizon was really hard. Thank you all for your input! |

I’m going to disagree with most here and say, I personally don’t have an issue with not blurring the background in this particular shot. Something about the way your subject is standing and looking off to his left with the background as visible as you exposed it, sort of appeals to me. Almost like there‘s something to be said about what‘s going on in the background. Maybe it’s because when I first saw you image, I thought the structure behind your subject was sinking, lol. Anyway, good capture, and great refelction.
