Default Flare issue

I like the flare, other people like it, but it's against the rules and I'm wondering if it is tolerable for showing to a client or does it look amateurish?

When used with intention and discretion sun flare can be a perfectly appropriate thing to have in an image. It can convey a certain feeling, if that's what you're going for. In this photo, though, it doesn't work. It looks less like sun flare and more like a photo discolored by age.

I like judicious use of flare and don't think it's bad here..
I'd show the client with an explanation of what it is if you want. If you're unsure how they'd see it, don't show it.

I like a good sun flare...but have to agree with Rentham, it doesn't work in this particular case. It's a shame that it's in the photo, because the lighting and the bokeh are gorgeous in this photo.

Im flare all the way - i love the stuff!

Love or hate, therefore let them choose, it costs you nothing. certainly not amaturish. Especially not with gorgeouos bokeh like that!
