Default working on the bag

Hi i was trying to go for low key and gritty do you think it works or not if not what could i do to improve the shot many thanks.

Big Al on the bag

Exposure 0.02 sec (1/50)
Aperture f/2.8
Focal Length 50 mm
ISO Speed 50
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash Off camera right and 45 deg

I understand what you want to do, but overall the image is very dark.

I feel you need a bit of light on the bag. If you did not mention it in your title I would not have known. Same sort of light as on the guy. Otherwise I like it. Dark and moody. I do not normally critic because I feel I do not have the experience to do so..

I like where you are going with this. I wonder if you could have let the light that is hitting the boxer also create a rim on the bag. You might also be able to gain enough light from in between and above the boxer and the bag to use bounce some light back up at the boxer and the bag. I like it dark, but some more light will help tell the story better.
