Default How do I fix skin tones?

What did I do wrong here? Sun was going down and my model looks orange. How can I fix the photo post process and what could I have done to prevent this?

It's a white balance issue.

May be able to be adjusted in post processing if you didn't set it when shooting jpgs.

Shooting RAW always allows you to adjust it in post processing.

See this thread, on DPS, for an intro.

Sallie, she doesn't look too bad on my laptop...but it's not a calibrated screen, so I hesitate to say how accurate the colors are. Here's what you can try in post: In Levels, take the white eyedropper on the right side of the levels tool and click it on any of the white designs on her dress. You may want to try it on several places to see which gives you the best results. On a separate note, you may want to be careful in the future with how you crop your shots...cutting off at a joint, as in her ankle, makes the subject look like amputees.

I will try using levels and cropping or composing better. I hope to improve my work. Thanks for your help.

Forgot about shooting in RAW! Ugh! I need a check sheet of things to remember. There are so many elements to consider. Thank you. I will remember white balance!

I'd prefer a tighter crop which would eliminate the ankle issue

I like that too. That picture is not the best all around and didn't offer it to the model. I have others that I will have to crop tighter because of the same issue...cutting off feet, hands, etc.
